The Gray Man trailer has arrived, giving us a taste of the action-packed carnage in store for us when it arrives on Netflix.
Said to be the most expensive movie in Netflix’s history, the movie saw Avengers: Infinity War spirit Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo reunite with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, giving them an all-star cast to play with too.
The trailer sees CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka Sierra Six, go on the run when he is hunted down by his unhinged former colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), who ends up setting up a whole legion of killers against him.
Will he survive? We’ll have to wait until July 22 to find out.
To hype up the new trailer, Netflix released a series of character posters yesterday (May 23) that showed off the movie’s impressive cast, which also includes Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Billy Bob Thornton and Regé-Jean Page.
Based on the book by Mark Greaney, The Gray Man sees Gentry team up with agent Dani Miranda (de Armas) in order to survive against Hansen and his goons, as well as try to find out exactly why he’s been hunted.
The Russos previously teased that fans might be surprised by Chris Evans’ villainous role in the film, describing Hansen as “a really unique character“.
“This is Evans as a villain so it’s a really interesting character and I think he’s going to get to flex quite a bit in this role,” they added.
They also shared their plans for the film to serve as a jumping off point for a franchisestating: “This is being conceived as a series of films, and again, potentially branching out, we could follow other characters, but we’re not gonna answer every question in the movie.
“So you’re gonna finish the movie, [and] have a complete story, but you’re still gonna have questions about the wider universe. “
The Gray Man is released in select cinemas on July 15 and on Netflix on July 22.
