Hall of Famer Ty Cobb’s Tahoe estate is for sale for $12.8M
Once home to baseball Hall of Famer Ty Cobb, this estate rests on the eastern shores of Lake Tahoe. Now, 1472 Flowers Ave. is on the market asking $ 12.8 million.
The property consists of 0.87 acres backing up onto the lake in Glenbrook, Nevada.
The kitchen is outfitted for modern cooking, though it too feels original.
Peter TyeIt was built in the late 1930s. Now, almost 100 years later, it’s been updated for modern luxury while still retaining its original grand lodge ascetic. Its 3,597 square feet are framed by towering timber beams, wood-paneled floors and walls, and great sheets of glass that look out on the stunning scenery.

Peter TyeTy Cobb was the first to live in this home. Nicknamed “the Georgia Peach,” Cobb had an incredible career in Major League Baseball and has been ranked as one of the game’s greatest players. He played as a center fielder for the Detroit Tigers for 22 seasons, as well as a player-manager for six of those seasons.

Peter TyeIn 1936, two years before this estate was built, Cobb was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He received the most votes of any player on the inaugural ballot, receiving 222 out of the possible 226 votes, or 98.2%, a record unbroken until 1992 (by Tom Seaver).
Outside the home, the property is landscaped and inviting, leading from wide lawns and down a wooden pathway to the shoreline.
Peter TyeStar Brooks of Chase International, who co-listed this property with agent Sue Low, told SFGATE that this estate was Cobb’s retreat from his high profile work with the MLB.

Peter TyeThere are five bedrooms, four bathrooms. The common areas are set under vaulted ceilings and all look out towards the lake and the Sierra. The impressive stone fireplace that warms the home is original, and “dates back to the 1930s,” Brooks said.
