Eric Clapton Announces 2022 U.S. Concerts

Eric Clapton has announced a brief US tour in September 2022. The classic rock legend begins a European tour on May 17. He just played several concerts at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 20 at 10 am local time here.
Clapton’s band for these concerts will include Doyle Bramhall II, Paul Carrack, Nathan East, Sonny Emory and Chris Stainton with Sharon White and Katie Kissoon on backing vocals.
The shows will feature Jimmie Vaughan as a special guest.
As part of the US tour, Clapton, who turned 77 on March 30, will be making his 49th and 50th appearances at New York’s Madison Square Garden which date back to his first concert there as a member of Cream on Nov. 2, 1968. He has also performed at Madison Square Garden as a member of Blind Faith (July 12, 1969), as a solo artist 43 times, including special engagements alongside Steve Winwood and Jeff Beck, and as part of his Crossroads Music Festival .
On the same day that he announced the US shows (May 16), Clapton also revealed that he had recently tested positive for Covid-19 and thus needed to postpone his May 17 and 18 performances in Zurich and Milan, respectively, with the expectation that his European tour would resume on May 20. The rescheduled dates are expected “within the next six months.”
